Very often the most beautiful and outstanding artworks were created by accident: water spots after the rain, odd lines of the wire or paper crumpled in a weird way may create some really beautiful pieces of art – and the best thing about them is that they stir imagination and may cause various conflicting feelings in different people.

Ghostly Figures in Ruined Buildings

Photographer Xenmate (his works can also be found here) finds ghost buildings where the walls have been artistically redecorated, animated with ghostly figures as flat as the non-spaces they inhabit. That’s rather an almost accidental art because the figures were added there but the whole picture would not be possible with the overall scene of demolished buildings.

Crumpled Paper

Paper Sculpture:

The origami fan wanted to create a paper sculpture expressing frustration:

While there have been occasional happy faces, and even a few enlightened and bemused expressions, I haven’t seen any of the heavier emotions in origami. I’m talking here about Hope, Frustration, Anger, Love, Despair.

Toilet Paper Roll Sculptures:

That’s either not quite accidental – but I am sure the artist doesn’t quite imagine how each sculpture is going to look like until it is crumpled:

Old road signs

The road signs were created by people but time gave them new, “accidental” meaning:

Spots on walls

That’s a purely accidental art, the only human skill involved here is the photographer’s who was spotting it:

Wow this is a really cool set. I LOVE the toilet paper roll faces! Also I’m a huge fan of the “accidentals.” Thanks for the post.

The figures on the ruined buildings are eerie. They look like lingering spirits.

Nice post. In case anyone’s interested. I maintain a whole blog that collects this kind of accidental art (see link above). Truly, art is all around us. All that’s required is to notice it.
