Winter Art: Awesome Snow and Ice Sculptures
January 4, 2010 by James Bent - No Comments
The process of sculpting ice is a long and tedious one. First, the sculptor must craft, clean, and measure his molds perfectly, lest he leave imperfections or chips in the initial ice block. Then, the ice is prepared using a special technique that requires several days and a lot of labor, but produces perfectly crystal clear ice which is easier to cut and prettier. Then, after everything has been checked one more time, the sculpting process begins. Keep in mind, however, that even a simple flower vase can take upwards of two hours of sculpting time. The time and effort that went into these masterpieces then, is astounding; appreciate them for the that, for their uniqueness, and most of all simply for their beauty.
